Stress Is a KILLER, Leave it Behind

If there was a trophy for biggest worrier, stressor, anxiety freak it would be me…in college.

School had turned me into a crazy person with (sometimes) ridiculous tests and expensive summer courses that you had to pass or you might as well drop out of college. It was such an amazing experience, but school in general can be really hard at times, especially when all the pressures hit you at once.

I think I’ve come a long way with overcoming my stress since college, even though it’s only been a year.

My anxiety wasn’t just worrying here and there it was full on anxiety attacks. I didn’t even know they were anxiety attacks till I went to the doctor one day and she diagnosed it– the loss of breath, tingling in the fingertips, lips trembling. Yupp, it was bad.

I did have a lot going on during school that totally wasn’t school related. Maybe I’ll make a post on roommate red flags LOL. I think everyone goes through one bad college roommate situation. Not that any of my roommates were TOTALLY bad psycho, I’m actually still really good friends with my last roommate, but the boyfriends…

I think you know where this is going and if you don’t it ended up with us in terror and 1 guy arrested.

Fast forward to now and things can still make me really stressed, but I’ve learned to manage it!

OK, let’s be honest everyone says breathing techniques and YOGA. First off, counting to 5 and taking 3 deep breaths wouldn’t do anything, but make me more stressed haha. My dad literally bought me a handful of yoga classes because he said I was too stressed and needed to relax.

And yes, yoga has been so fun, it’s a workout! But come on, some people are just not fit for it. I just nailed the downward dog and it’s been months. I’m the girl watching the person next to me to see what position she’s getting into next because IDK what Ganda Bherundasana is.

LOL okay that was a joke, that’s like the hardest yoga pose, but you get where I’m going.

These are the things that have worked for me that don’t include bending your leg backwards to touch your head.

They say you are what you eat and you know what sometimes I AM a McDonalds large fry, but you really gotta be baked chicken and veggies /: I’ve learned to loveee eating healthy though. I would love to share with you guys my healthy meals like my strawberry chicken salad with homemade dressing ♥


Happy hours are fun! But alcohol can trigger panic attacks, not to mention too much just isn’t good for you + makes you gain weight QUICK.


Half the time I’m stressed it’s because I have too much on my plate and I need to escape it all and then come back and reconnect. My agenda is my life saver. It keeps me organized and sane.


I want to accomplish so much in my life but to be honest everything takes time and hard work. So take baby steps and you’ll get there sooner than you think.


Casual reading. It really is so relaxing, I can get lost in books and don’t want to do anything else besides get to the end. Try it if you don’t read regularly, very enjoyable and a great way to just unwind. Sometimes if I can’t fall asleep at night, reading can make me so relaxed, I crash.


We all gotta work and we all need to unwind at some point. Take at least one day out of your busy week and do what you want!


Let it out. Whether that’s to your friends or your therapist. PS. never be ashamed of having a therapist, I think they’re great and honestly would not mind having one, talk therapy is an AMAZING way to unwind. Talk about it, it’ll help you realize what exactly you’re stressed about and possibly rectify the situation.


This is a tip to all of the ninjas who can do all the above and go to the gym regularly. You go! I know I should workout more…ok workout. I used to run A LOT and it was my favorite way to escape all of life’s stressors. I lived in San Jose with beautiful green hills around me and flat ground. San Francisco…different story, but I guess I could find a place to run. It’s on my list of things to do, ok?

If you really want to get away from it all, my advice is always TAKE A VACATION.
